Is The ‘iKey’ Apple’s Next Big Thing?

iPhone, iPad, iTouch, it seems everywhere we look there is some gadget which starts with an “i”,  rumors has it there  is yet another “i” gadget on its way the iKey. Really!!! what is the iKey and what is its purpose despite the obvious.

Speculations are, a recently discovered Apple patent application seems to be that of a feature that would give iPhone users the opportunity to use their iPhone as a key and or even pay for stuff using a 3digit pin. I guess hence the name iKey. What will apple think of next?

This near field communication—or RFID, which is not implemented in the current crop of iPhones—coupled with a cute, on screen UI (like a combination lock), will be very interesting if it comes to fruition. We don’t know what will become of this idea, seems like a good one  since half of the world is already using phone-based RFID shopping.

We will have to wait and see…
