PSN Premium Service Rumored To Be Announced At E3 2010

Rumors of a premium Playstation Network service have been around for some time now, even from Sony’s Kaz Hirai himself, and a report from VG247 says it will become a reality at E3 next month. According to the site, a “highly-placed source” says that Sony will be announcing the service and a list of new premium PSN features during its June 15th keynote at the show, and that it will cost less than $70 a year. With E3 around the corner, it seems like the obvious time for Nintendo to finally explain what the mysterious Wii Vitality Sensor will actually be used for. Apparently, the explanation might be coming sooner than expected.

Steam Releases Mac Client – Real Gaming Finally Here?

Steam for Mac is now officially available, along with a sizeable number of games – including Portal, which is now free for everybody!

Valve’s plan is to release a new set of games for Mac every Wednesday for the next few weeks. This week notably, every game has SteamPlay, which means you buy it once, and it’ll run on all Steam-supportd platforms. This does imply that not every Steam game will be available on Mac and PC. Although games have existed on the Mac for a long time, the promise of true multiplatform computer gaming on the largest scale in a long time is a pretty thrilling idea.

Nintendo Pressured Into 3DS Announcement

Last week Nintendo slipped out a press release in Japan informing the world that an all-new 3D-capable portable hardware is coming, with a full unveiling set for E3 2010 this June. Tentatively titled the 3DS, this glasses-free 3D device is pitched as the successor to both the Nintendo DS and DSi, and will use a “compatible cart” which will ensure backwards compatibility with the vast library of favorites from the older consoles.
