Hulu Plus Lands On Nintendo Wii; 3DS Support Coming Soon

As of today, Wii owners will be able sign up to Hulu Plus, its subscription service that was launched back in 2010, for $7.99 a month and stream the current as well as full back seasons of shows, along with a wide selection of movies.
Back in October 2011, it was reported that gaming giant Nintendo was teaming up with Hulu to deliver Hulu Plus TV shows and movies to the Wii and the 3DS by the end of the year. Well, it has taken a little longer than planned, but the service has now gone live for the Wii, with talks of 3DS arriving later this year.

In the days before the release of the iPhone, Nintendo was the undisputed king of handheld gaming. Currently, Nintendo sees Apple as one of their biggest rivals in the handheld gaming industry. The gaming apps found on iOS devices just caught the interest of gamers and non-gamers alike hurting Nintendo’s sales. It is a bit surprising to see that Nintendo is set to release their first official iOS app in Japan called Pokemon Say Tap? BW. Although the game probably won’t ever be released outside of Japan, it does mark a change in Nintendo’s attitude toward smartphone gaming.

The Kinect, originally developed by Microsoft is a pretty amazing device. Thanks to a few cameras and sensors, the Xbox add-on can accurately detect body movements in real time. Recently, Microsoft’s Israeli research and development team may have recently teased an upcoming Xbox 360 feature that is sure to catch the eye of several people: 3D gaming! Xbox Live To Be Integrated Into Windows 8

Microsoft is taking some affirmative steps towards unifying their themes and services across different platforms. The first efforts were seen in the form of the Metro design language which started from Windows Phone 7 and then moved on to Xbox Live, Microsoft Office, and Windows 8. Nintendo Reveals ‘Wii U’ With Touch-Screen Controller

As everyone already knows, Nintendo’s flagship gaming console, the aging Nintendo Wii, is due for a big upgrade really soon. The replacement was announced at E3 today, known as the “Wii U”. It will deliver features that will significantly change the gaming experience for users, including the long-awaited high-definition video that the Wii lacked.

Microsoft Announces Bing, YouTube and Live TV For Xbox Live

Microsoft announced several new Xbox Live features today at the E3 video game conference. The features are designed to expand the number of content options available and new ways to discover them as well. The Xbox Live service will soon make millions of new videos all available through partnerships, including one announced with YouTube. With a revamp to the Xbox Live experience, users will be able to navigate through the service and all of the new pieces of content with voice control powered by Microsoft’s Kinect and search powered by its Bing search engine.

Sony Offers Identity Theft Protection To PlayStation Network Users

The US-based PlayStation Network users will now be able to register for a free Identity Protection service thanks to an arrangement made by Sony with a company named Debix. On May 3rd, Sony promised all customers affected by the recent break-ins into the PlayStation Network system, free identity theft protection from Debix for one year. A PlayStation 3 hacker by the name of KaKaRoToKS recently released an SGTPuzzles PS3 homebrew port of Simon Tatham’s Portable Puzzle Collection dubbed the Humble Homebrew Collection, which currently includes 33 puzzle games for both jailbreak and PS3 CFW (PlayStation 3 custom firmware) users. The collection of apps it provides can be used on a jailbroken PlayStation 3, Linux, Windows, Mac, or Android.
