If you are using Mobile Safari on iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch running iOS 5.1, than you should be cautious of a security issue that involves address bar spoofing. The issue was discovered by David Vieira-Kurz of MajorSecurity, and involves “an error within the handling of URLs when using javascript’s window open() method.” This can be exploited by malicious sites to display custom URLs, potentially fooling users into supplying personal information to a malicious website (since the Safari address bar can display a totally different address than the website that is actually being displayed.

MajorSecurity has notified Apple of the issue and it is at the point where it is likely just a matter of time before Apple releases the patch to address the problem. While Apple works on a fix for the issue, it is probably a good idea to avoid opening untrusted links and think twice about sending personal information to any website that asks for it through Safari on your iOS device.

The security firm also created a sample web page to show the vulnerability in action. If you are interested in checking it out, open the following URL on your iOS device (one with iOS 5.1 installed):

Click the demo at the top of the page and you will see a site that very closely resembles Apple’s official site but is actually hosted by MajorSecurity.

Are you considering picking up an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S? You might want to hike over to the nearest Target location.

According to a recent report from 9to5 Mac showing the above image from a tipster located in Orlando, FL indicates both the 16GB and 32GB iPhone 4S models are available for $174.99, and $274.99. The $25 mark down applies to the 8GB iPhone 4 as well, which can be had for $74.99.

The deal appears to be going on in Orlando till the end of the month. With 37 million iPhone 4Ss sold already I can’t imagine retailers are sitting on massive amounts of inventory they need to push, which is why the Target deal is somewhat surprising.

Although, the recent release of the new iPad has led to price cuts of the iPad 2 with numerous locations selling one or more models cheaper than the already reduced prices. Micro Center has the iPad 2 16GB Wi-Fi model for $359.99 which is $40 cheaper than the recently reduced price of $400.

Keep an eye out for deals like above, and look for Apple and second-hand retailers to have a large supply of refurbished iPad 2s for sale in the near future as well.

Samsung may be keeping the Galaxy S III on the hush hush, but that hasn’t stopped the press images from leaking all over the web. While it is entirely debatable that the majority of these leaks are indeed fakes, the latest one has caught our attention, with the signs suggesting that this particular leak may be the real deal after all.

The recent image spotted courtesy of a Reddit user who uploaded it recently. The image itself shows what appears to be Samsung’s new flagship Android smartphone, with the suggestion that it will be announced during a Samsung Unpacked event in London, England on May 22nd.

Samsung has been unusually coy over its latest handset. After receiving flak for the delay between announcement and US release of the Galaxy S II, Samsung is preferring to take the Apple approach of only announcing the product when it is ready to ship in mass. This has led to an unusual vacuum of information, and one which has been filled by countless rumors.

One tidbit that lends credence to this photo more than others is the inclusion of the name of a PR firm, Weber Shandwick, on the images. Weber Shandwick is a firm that Samsung has used in the past, and it was the firm behind the CES 2010 Samsung press event. If this image is indeed a fake, someone has gone to a lot of trouble to add a little authenticity.

The iOS developer, @Notcom recently released an updated version of his TinyUmbrella to version 5.10.08. TinyUmbrella 5.10.08 can save iOS 5.1 SHSH blobs for the new iPad (iPad 3) and Apple TV 3G. You can download TinyUmbrella 5.10.08from the link below.

For those of you who don’t already know, TinyUmbrella lets you save SHSH blobs for the Apple TV, iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch, which are required to be able to downgrade the device firmware to an older version. Alternatively, you can use tools like SHSH Blob Extractor or iSHSHit.

The iPhone Dev Team has successfully jailbroken the new iPad, but there has been no indication of the release of a jailbreak tool at the moment. MuscleNerd tweeted photos of the Jailbreak along with the disclaimer “Just a first step, still lots of work to do! No ETA!”

It appears that there are several potential paths to a jailbreak:

• We can confirm that the method used to jailbreak the iPad2 4 months ago still works even in 5.1. That means we’ll at least be able to get our foot in the door to get the required kernel dumps on the iPad3. That’s an important step, but by no means is it the end of the story.
• Those of you following @i0n1c may have noticed he’s already tweeted pictures of his iPad2 jailbroken at 5.1. As far as we know, he’s using a method completely unrelated to the one mentioned above. That would be great news!
• We’ve also seen bits and pieces of an entirely different jailbreak method being investigated by someone close to the Cydia repo scene.
• That’s three different angles, and we’re not even including the continuous work @pod2g makes towards a new jailbreak!

The infamous Germany based iOS hacker involved in the jailbreak scene Stefan Esser, more commonly known as i0n1c who was previously responsible for research and work which ended in a jailbreak for iOS 4 which spanned three software updates and was heavily involved behind the scenes in the production of the Absinthe based jailbreak. I0n1c has once again been showing off his jailbreak ninja skills, first of all by being the first to showcase a jailbreak for the iPad 2 running iOS 5.1 and now the show has shifted towards the iPhone Dev Team’s front man MuscleNerd, who has successfully jailbroken the new iPad in its full glory running iOS 5.1. He posted screenshot on Twitter showing off the new iPad running the latest build of Cydia, which is 1.1.5:

While folks out there were still trying to score themselves the new iPad, MuscleNerd used his skills to bypass Apple’s restrictions and get our beloved Cydia working.

In the meantime, for those of you who own A4 devices (iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod touches) can jailbreak the latest iOS 5.1 (tethered), and iOS 5.0.1 (untethered) using Redsn0w, Sn0wbreeze. For those with A5 devices (iPhone 4S and iPad 2) on iOS 5.0.1 can use Absinthe on Windows or Mac.

Update # 1: Stefen Esser posted a video showing untethered jailbreak for the new iPad -

According to a recent report from Reuters, BBC is planning an iTunes-style downloading service code name “Project Barcelona” for UK media consumers that would allows users to get recent or archived broadcasts from the BBC online store for a “modest fee”.

BBC Director General Mark Thompson did not specify a time of release or pricing information. Thompson did clarify that the software will be like going into a store and buying a DVD. It is expected that such a service would be a potential rival for iTunes and other content suppliers like Amazon and Google as well. Many BBC programs are currently offered on iTunes. There is no definite word on whether BBC will pull their apps from iTunes yet.

At this stage, there is no word if the product will be offered outside the UK yet, for now it looks like it’s something BBC is planning only for local audience.

PayPal officially announced the mobile payment solution with the free “PayPal Here” reader and accompanying free iOS and Android application.

PayPal’s system can accept all major credit cards and offers a few more ways to get paid outside of credit cards. Merchants can accept direct PayPal payments and checks, yes hand written checks, in addition to credit cards. The funds (except for payments via check) are available the same day in the user’s PayPal account.

With the PayPal Here card reader and application PayPal has positioned themselves in direct competition with Square’s reader and accompanying iPad and iPhone applications. The application also manages to undercut Square’s transaction fee by .05% coming in at 2.7% per transaction.

The ability to create invoices and track cash payments is standard fare but the odd triangular design of the reader itself is an interesting choice to say the least. But, it appears the Pay Here app allows merchants to add items to a simple inventory list. It’s no where near squares digital storefront, but definitely encouraging to have the added functionality this early.

The reader or the accompanying app are not yet available, but for those who are interested can sign up for notification as soon as they become available. The additional payment methods definitely make PayPal Here an enticing offer.

Apple’s new iPad, unofficially dubbed the “iPad 3,” is going to officially be available on Friday, March 16, 2012. Walmart is rumored to be selling the new iPad as of midnight. The new iPad features a sharp retina display, 4G LTE capability, voice dictation, updated iSight camera, a sleek frame similar to that of the iPad 2 and price within the $499 to $829 range.

Customer response to Apple’s new iPad has been “off the charts” and pre-orders for the next-generation tablet have already sold out. On March 7, Apple unveiled its third-generation iPad, to Apple fans around the world. The iPad 3′s Friday release date will be a global event, making the 2012 roll-out Apple’s biggest yet.

Here are some of the coolest accessories on the market to buy for your new iPad.

Glasses

Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), vision problems caused by staring at a computer or tablet screen for long periods of time, affects people each and every day. According to the American Optometric Association, symptoms of computer vision syndrome include eyestrain, headaches, blurred vision and dry eyes, reported CBS News. CVS is more common in individuals who stare at a screen for two or more continuous hours at a time.

The Eggshell comes in clear, frosted, or black.
