Well it didn’t take too long for Google to response. We mentioned just yesterday about the Android vulnerability found in ClientLogin that could have some serious security ramifications. Using a dummy open access point, a nefarious third party could passively through the use of Wi-Fi collect authentication tokens to password protected services such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google Calendar stored on affected Android devices. Speaking with Mobilized’s, Ina Fried, the Android-maker has stated that it is taking action, and fast.
Google told the publication; “Today we’re starting to roll out a fix which addresses a potential security flaw that could, under certain circumstances, allow a third party access to data available in calendar and contacts. This [...]

Research from multiple universities is now warning that almost all smartphones that are running Google’s Android software could be allowing third parties access to digital tokens that could allow access to services such as Google Calendar and Contacts. The issue seems to affect all devices running versions of Android prior to 2.3.3 and is related to handling of the authentication protocol ClientLogin. According to researchers at the German University of Ulm, once a user enters their credentials, the programming interface retrieves its token in clear text. The token is valid for 14 days and a window appears where attackers could use their new found access however they like. The whole process seems to be relatively easy [...]

Google has announced Google TV will be to run Android apps starting this summer.
The announcement was made during its I/O conference keynote. The Google TV will reportedly get updated with Android 3.1 Honeycomb this summer which brings Android Market to the device.
Android 3.1 will bring enhanced multitasking features that will allow you to access many more applications than the standard five you’re given with Android 3.0. The dedicated multitasking option for Honeycomb was received rather well, so we weren’t surprised to see this feature beefed up a bit. Other features that aren’t necessarily huge were also announced, like the ability to resize widgets. This small but useful feature was on the list of things [...]

Apple has been pushing iOS firmware updates to the iDevices via their popular iTunes application for the longest. When a new software update is available, users need to plug their device in via USB, click update, and the new software version is downloaded and installed.
Apple’s competitors have already been offering a different, more direct method for software updates that happens over-the-air. Specifically, when an update to Google’s Android operating system or HP/Palm’s webOS is released, users are provided an update notification and can update the software right on their phone. No computer required.
Folks over at 9to5mac are reporting that Apple & Verizon are planning to introduce over the air updates [...]
