Sprint Seeks Access To Documents Regarding AT&T and T-Mobile Merger
0It isn’t exactly a secret that U.S wireless provider Sprint isn’t exactly a fan of the proposed AT&T and T-Mobile merger. Dan Hesse, the company’s CEO has been very straight forward with his concerns, the main concern being that the merge will end up creating a duopoly between AT&T and Verizon Wireless. The carrier is therefore looking for even more anti-merger ammunition. The folks over at Bloomberg are reporting that Sprint representatives have “signed confidentiality agreements in advance of possibly gaining access to filings that won’t be available to the public.”

Nielsen’s Research Shows Android Is “Most Wanted” OS
0Just recently, the Nielsen Company released the findings of its latest smartphone survey, which asked respondents planning to purchase new smartphones which platform they intended to patronize. When being asked this question last year between June and September, 33% named iOS, 26% said iOS, and 13% said they planned to purchase a BlackBerry smartphone. This has changed since then and it isn’t exactly a surprise seeing how things have been going.
When a new group was asked the same question between January and March of 2011, Android slipped past Apple’s iOS platform to become the most wanted More >

Universal iPhone Unlocking Service “CutYourSIM” Shuts Down
0We recently told you about CutYourSIM, a company offering permanent iPhone unlocks without having to jailbreak your iPhone. We raised our concern about how the unlocks were being performed and now, unsurprisingly, the company has shut down it’s service.
The unlocking service was priced at $169.99 and it promised to make your iPhone work with any SIM card, permanently. Although it doesn’t happen often in the States, when Apple or AT&T does carrier unlock an iPhone, they do so by entering that iPhone’s IMEI number into a “whitelist” database that allows that phone from then on to work on More >
Ultrasn0w 1.2.2 Released; Unlocks iPhone 4, 3GS On iOS 4.3.2
0The iPhone Dev Team has released an updated version of Ultrasn0w unlock to make it compatible with iOS 4.3.2 on iPhone 4 and 3GS, running on the old baseband. Ultrasn0w was broken on iOS 4.3.2 firmware and we were relying on the Ultrasn0w Fixer by DjayB6.
For those who are not aware, this release of Ultrasn0w is not a new unlock for iPhones with newer basebands, instead, it only fixes the compatibility issues on the existing devices, which are jailbroken (with preserved basebands: 01.59.00 / 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04 / 06.15.00) on iOS 4.3.2 using PwnageTool 4.3.2 or More >
iPhone Dev Team Releases Untethered PwnageTool 4.3.2
2The popular iDevice jailbreaking utility, PwnageTool, was recently updated to version 4.3.2, which includes the 4.3.2 untether from @i0n1c, just like Redsn0w. The 4.3.2 untether works on all devices that actually support 4.3.2 with the exception of the iPad 2. If you are one of the lucky users who ended up receiving a stock device on 4.3.2, or “accidentally” updated, then today is your lucky day. The utility is more helpful of course towards those seeking to unlock their iPhones.
PwnageTool is your go-to app for creating custom firmware bundles that leave your baseband untouched to help More >
Root Your Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread Devices With Gingerbreak
0As we already know, utilities like SuperOneClick, Universal Androot and z4root don’t work on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. It’s not as easy to root some phones running Google Android 2.3 as it was to gain root access to early versions of the operating system. For instance, rooting a Google Nexus One after updating to Android 2.3.3 is a not an easy task. Fortunately there’s a new exploit floating around the web called GingerBreak which remount /system read/write, install su binaries and superUser.apk in your system, regardless of the device.
The tool is relatively new and hasn’t been More >
Verizon CFO Reveals iPhone 5 Will Be A ‘Global’ Device
0Verizon CFO Fran Shammo revealed that the next generation iPhone will be a ‘global’ device, during a conference call with analysts this morning. According to Shammo, the new iPhone 5 will be a global handset in that Apple will produce only one universally-compatible model for distribution around the globe.
The fluctuation, I believe, will come when a new device from Apple is launched, whenever that may be, and that we will be, on the first time, on equal footing with our competitors on a new phone hitting the market, which will also be a global device.
If Shammo’s statement proves More >
Apple Confirms 4G LTE iPhone For 2012
0The iPhone 5, due out sometime this summer, will not be an LTE 4G phone.
Not only will the lack of a 4G Verizon iPhone likely disappoint everyone who passed on the iPhone 4 in hopes of buying one that would run on Verizon’s fastest network, it also keeps Apple in the middle of the pack behind more muscular Google Android phones. Motorola, HTC and LG are all prepping 4G LTE Android phones, which are among the 10 LTE devices coming to Verizon as early as this spring.
According to Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook, Apple re-confirmed it is not adopting the current generation of LTE More >
