In what seems to be a bizarre repeat of an incident that occured last year, Apple managed to lose another next-generation iPhone prototype in a fashion similar to the conditions in which the iPhone 4 went missing months before the fourth generation device was meant to be seen in public. This time, the iPhone 5 prototype appears to be missing and was found by someone at a bar in San Francisco’s Mission District in a bar named Cava 22.
There seems to be a lot of questions in the air but what is known for sure is that Apple is working with the police to recover what is presently believed to be a missing iPhone 5 [...]

If you don’t want an unlimited text message plan and are planning to join the AT&T family, then you should get used to spending $.20 per text (or more for MMS). Starting this upcoming Sunday, August 21st, new AT&T customers will only have two options for their texting plans: unlimited texting, which starts or $20 per month or pay per text.
AT&T representatives confirmed the change this morning, telling me that the new plans shouldn’t shake up too many folks, particularly since the majority of new customers opt for the unlimited plans regardless. The vast sea of critics who believe mobile carriers like AT&T should offer more choices rather than dictate limited [...]

The wireless service provider, AT&T has recently hired Bank of America’s Merril Lynch to help advise the company on the sale of as much as $8 billion in assets in an effort to gain the government’s approval of its planned T-Mobile acquisition. The Wall Street Journal is saying that AT&T is trying to sell off its network assets in an attempt to water down its market power, but most of the assets could actually be T-Mobile’s holdings.”As we said on the day we announced the marger with T-Mobile USA, we anticipate there will be some divestitures, as we had in past mergers, but any speculation about the amount of divestitures is premature,” an AT&T spokesperson told [...]

Mike Abramsky, an RBC Capital analyst recently sat down in a meeting with Peter Oppenheimer (Apple’s Chief Financial Officer) and Tim Cook (Chief Operating Officer) to discuss a range of topics from Apple’s patent battles to the possibility of a budget-priced iPhone. “Apple’s primary criterion for launching a lower-end iPhone is an innovative, category-killer experience,” Abramsky wrote in a recent note to investors. The executives said that the components sector is currently a “buyers market,” which means it has the upper hand when it comes to negotiating for parts. In addition, Abramsky said Apple is interested in settling a number of patent lawsuits against Android phone makers similar to HTC and Samsung, in an effort to [...]
