Will iPhone/iPad Stay Exclusive to AT&T?
1AT&T has long been the cause of complaints, fairly or unfairly, about the performance of its network. In what may be a rare peek at negotiations between apple and carriers, a prominent newspaper claims AT&T agreed to a hefty iPhone 3G subsidies on the condition that it remains the lone carrier for the handset in the US until 2010.
The rumors that Apple would be adding a second carrier this year were met with some excitement, even to the point that a Verizon announcement was expected at the iPad unveiling last month. When such an announcement didn’t come – and, in fact, Apple announced a More >

iPad Anti-DRM Petition Getting Attention
0Supporters of free software picketed the iPad launch last month, designating the Yerba Buena Center For Arts as an “Apple Restriction Zone.” The Free Software Foundation was protesting Apple’s ongoing efforts to control what can run on its devices through restrictive digital rights management (DRM) and a closed operating system. The online petition set up at the event has swelled to over eight thousand signatures, and the FSF sent off the first five thousand as a postcard to Steve Jobs.
The Defective by Design campaign, organized by the FSF, was successful in pressuring Apple to remove all More >
Carriers Might Offer Cheaper iPad’s With 2-year Contract
5The Wi-Fi only iPads are priced between $499 and $699, while the iPad Wi-Fi+3G models are priced between $629 and $829. The iPad Wi-Fi+3G model comes without any contract from AT&T, if you thought this was a good enough deal to go for the device, well think again – a German blog has quoted the CEO of a European network operator as indicating that massive discounts for the iPad could be in the offing in return for a contractual obligation.
According to a post on TamsIJungle, Berthold Thoma, the CEO of Hutchison Austria had this to say:
“Hutchison Austria will be the first Austrian carrier to More >

Windows 7 Coming Soon To iPad
2Citrix wasting no time since the announcement of iPad, has been working on launching client software enabling iPad users to connect to Citrix Server and run Windows 7 in a virtual session. This will probably reach the marketplace to coincide with the iPad’s formal release in late March.
MacinBusiness today covered the iPad as a thin client:
As a thin client even the $499 model is a pretty amazing product and a pretty great value and certainly good enough from a CPU and RAM standpoint. And it’s a much better than a cheaper Windows-based netbook because the 1024 x 768 screen is actually More >

New Features Spotted with Apple’s 3.2 SDK
1The SDK supports a lot of new functionality, which provides interesting hints as to features the iPad may support either when it ships seven weeks from now, or in a future model. The developer behind great projects like Action Menu, ProSwitcher, and Inspell – Ryan Petrich, has shared the guts of the iPhone 3.2 SDK as to what’s built in.Possible support for a Java, Virtual Machine, and a Handwriting Keyboard – are fairly unexpected. Petrich also notes some support for doing things that have heretofore been jailbreak-only, like adding items to the Select/Cut/Copy/Paste callout (which you can More >
Adobe Speaks Out On Apple and It’s Device Restrictions
0If anyone has been following Apple products, they will notice that Flash does not work on the iPhone and wasn’t shown working for the iPad either. Adobe’s been trying to get Flash working on the iPhone and has had zero success since its first introduction to the market in 2007. Since the OS carries over from the iPhone to the iPad, there is no word if Flash will ever work unless Apple does something about it. The Adobe Flash Platform blog mentioned the following:
“It looks like Apple is continuing to impose restrictions on their devices that limit both content publishers and consumers. More >
