Apple’s iPhone will be available to all Carriers in US?
0Tim Horan, a telecommunications analyst at Oppenheimer &Co is predicting that Apple’s iPhonewill be available on all US carriers over the next 18 months.
According to Tim, this change in strategy in the US will help Apple sell two or three times more iPhones. The strategy of multiple carriers is already paying rich dividends in the UK.
Tim Horan said:
We believe AT&T’s iPhone exclusivity arrangement with Apple will be expiring by mid-2010.
For wireless carriers, customers are demanding the device and they need to remain competitive.

AndroidLock – Android Style lock/unlock for iPhone
1An Android phone features a unique lockscreen, where you have to connect various dots to unlock your phone rather than enter in a passcode or slide to unlock. There are 9 dots in total, and gives a little extra security just incase your friend happens to look over while you punch in your numbered code.
Just released to Rock and Cydia, comes AndroidLock, available now for free. This iPhone and iPod tweak will transform your iPhone lockscreen into an Android styled lockscreen where you connect dots in the same manner to unlock your phone. Simply draw the pattern to unlock.

iPhone App Saving Lives

iPhone App in the news coming out of the horrendous tragedy in Haiti. Colorado Springs resident Dan Woolley was at a Port-au-Prince hotel when that tremendous earthquake struck, trapping him with a compound fracture in his leg and a laceration on his head. Fortunately for Dan, he had his iPhone and a medical app with him (and a whole lot of luck), which he used to successfully diagnose and treat his injuries.
Using the light from his iPhone’s screen, Dan examined his wounds and identified the extent of the damage using his iphone. From there, he looked up the appropriate first aid

White House Event’s now on iPhone?
0 The White House iPhone app is mostly a pretty package of feeds and photos, but the actually interesting part is that it streams live video of White House events, starting with the State of the Union address next week.
As expected, most of us will be pre-occupied with a different keynote speech on Wednesday (Apple Event, Jan.27th). A mobile version of WhiteHouse.gov for other, non-iPhone phones is supposedly on the way, if you’re feeling left out.
Bing to be default search engine in iPhone OS 4.0?
1Rumor has it that the next iPhone OS could be the default search engine. BusinessWeek is reporting that Apple is in talks with Microsoft to have Bing replace Google as the default search engine.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that Apple’s main rival is not Microsoft, but Google. The Nexus One competes directly with the iPhone; Apple isallowing Google to use Lala, for now; and with Apple’s purchase of Quattro Wireless and Google’s acquisition of AdMob it seems each company is gearing to directly compete with the other in the mobile ad market. Microsoft is now a pawn in that battle,’ says More >
