Cloud Computing Coming To iPhone/iPodTouch

0

IceWEB, Inc. A company that offers online storage, said in a press release today that it will begin to support the iPhone and iPod Touch. The new product will be called “IceShare” and will be available in the App Store for purchase individually or as a corporate license.

Shortly after IceShare was introduced, it was compared to Apple’s MobileMe, but it’s far too premature for a side-by-side analysis to size up the “competitors.” It costs $99 per year and offers extra services such as email and a handy feature called “Find my iPhone,” which helps users find their lost More >

Tiger Woods Inspired Text Erasing App Hits App Store

0

Want to cheat on your spouse, and not end up like Tiger Woods? There’s an app for that.

The app makes your texts disappear – or “self-destruct” according to the lifespan you establish for their existence. It really makes your text disappear, it’s not an exaggeration. Text messages are deleted from your iPhone, the device that received messages from you, and even the server that made your exchanges possible.

“People text like they talk,” the app’s creator, Jeffery Evans, told Time. “And some of the things they say, taken out of context, can come back to haunt them.

“Explicit” Removed; Parental Control on iTunes

0

There were reports that Apple has added a new “Explicit” category in the iTunes Connect system for App Store submissions. Recently Apple removed as many as 5,000 titles from the App Store that it determined were inappropriate.

MacRumors speculated:

The reason for Apple’s addition of the new category is unknown, although it seems possible that the company may have reconsidered its decision to remove the “overtly sexual” applications in the face of backlash from developers and users and has decided to create a dedicated category in an attempt to find a middle ground in the controversy. The use More >

CBS Interested In 99 Cent Shows On iTunes

0

CBS CEO Leslie Moonves has flatly told the Financial Times that they “are certain shows that will be sold on Apple for 99 cents.” There isn’t much room to misinterpret what Moonves has said. Other networks aren’t speaking on the record just yet but the Financial Times has reported that other companies have agreed to similar terms as well. Many companies are said to launch their shows at the lower price soon enough – coinciding with the launch of the iPad. Peter Kafka of All Things Digital claimed that sources have told him that the CBS is open to deal with Apple but nothing has been More >

FairPlay DRM For iBookstore

0

The Los Angeles Times is now reporting that Apple will be making its own FairPlay digital rights management available to any book publishers that wish to use it. A big disappointment for those who hoped that book’s on Apple’s iBookstore would be DRM-free as music is on iTunes. It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise considering how Apple still uses Fairplay for movies and TV shows that are sold on iTunes, not to mention apps as well. Ironically, it still technically supports it for music as well although its safe to assume that Apple won’t be going back down that road anytime soon. Apple
