0

Spotted at the FCC and receiving approval for its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth frequencies are two new models of the Sony PS3 Slim, identified only by the designation CECH-2101A and CECH-2102B.

The two models can be differentiated by their HDD type and, from what we can glean from the FCC documentation, are otherwise the same as the current PS3 Slim that you can pick up at your local Gamestop.

Sony has not hinted at a new or updated PS3 console so speculation is running rampant with rumors that range from the not so exciting suggestion that this is a mere internal wireless component change to lower More >

Metal Gear Arcade Mixes 3D Glasses with Head-Tracking

Despite a few harrying run-ins with some large white tents at Manhattan’s Fashion Week-hosting Bryant Park, we can honestly say we have no idea what’s “in” this year for arcade gaming headgear. Still, even with Konami’s lack of zebra print or a sly celebrity endorsement, we’ve got to hand it to them for this fashionable new “Metal Gear Arcade” number. The arcade game is based on Metal Gear Online, but the head gear adds 3D and head-tracking to the experience. There’s also a physical gun controller, and the sit down arcade cabinets pump out your gunplay in huge 5.1 sound. This new arcade More >

3D Video Output Shows Up In PS3 Firmware

0

As mentioned before, Sony plans to bring 3D technology to it’s PS3 and the first evidence is now out there with news of it’s firmware update which shows 3D being implemented. Although it isn’t ready for the public just yet, a debug build of the 3.20 firmware is apparently now making the rounds among developers and it includes a “3D Video Output” options in the settings (which is evident in the image courtesy of VG247.) There is no word on the exact release date for the firmware but speculation still says it should be out and about sometime this summer. Looks like things are moving along as More >

3D Firmware Update Coming To The PS3

0

Sony made an announcement that supposedly the PS3 is going to go 3D this summer. Although no one knows exactly how the 3D will turn out on the platform, Sony is planning on releasing 3D for it’s platform in conjunction with the release of the 3D BRAVIA LCD sets. The plan is to turn the gaming system into a stereoscopic 3D gaming platform as well as a 3D Blu-ray compatible movie player. This may give Sony the edge over Microsoft and Nintendo, unless the other two have something planned as well. News like this is great for the average consumer because either way it is going to bring us better

Nothing Surprise me anymore in the world  of Technology, Is this N900 the most hacker-friendly phone ever created or what? All sources are saying hell “yes.” Just two  months ago, we saw one determined code monkey turn his N900 into a PS3 controller; today, we’re looking at someone who did the exact opposite. If you’ve memorized the Debian source code and aren’t afraid to dabble in the wild and murky world of N900 modding, you too can one day use a spare SIXAXIS controller in order to dictate gameplay on your Nokia handset. All the instructions you need are there in the source link, More >

Sony Charging for PSN Services?

0

One of the many differences behind the Playstation Network is that unlike its competitor (Microsoft’s Xbox), Sony does not charge for it’s online service. PSN users might be in for a change though as supposedly, charging for PSN service is something Sony is looking into doing. Back in November of 2009, Sony had a paid subscription plan in the works for PSN. Peter Dille (head of PSN) mentioned the following in an interview with IGN:

Will we charge for it or why don’t we charge for it? It’s been our philosophy not to charge for it from launch up until now, but Kaz recently went on the record More >
