Recent news takes this process of unifying a step further: Microsoft’s Xbox Live gaming and entertainment service for Windows Phone 7 and Xbox 360 is coming to Windows 8 next year.

Comex Releases JailbreakMe Teaser; iPad 2 Jailbreak Imminent

1

The iPad 2 was released more than three months ago and the people who have purchased an iPad 2 and wait to jailbreak it, haven’t been able to satisfy their desire since no iPad 2 jailbreak has been released.

The new Apple A5 processor-based architecture in the iPad 2 is proving to be a difficult issue to overcome. The Limera1n exploit, which worked previously on A4-based iOS devices like the iPod Touch 4G and iPhone 4, is hardware-based and since the iPad 2 is A5-based, the exploit does not work on it. This leaves the community to find an all new exploit for the device.

Apple’s discussion boards recently lit up with the complaints from customers who had their iPad shipments mysteriously sent back to Apple. Sources are now offering a little more information on the situation:

Google Rumored To Unveil BlackBerry Messenger Alternative For Android

Apple’s isn’t the only one creating a BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) type service for its platform as it appears that Google is attempting to do the same. Details are pretty scarce at the moment but it would make perfect sense for Google to jump on board, like other competitors have. The exclusive instant messenger trend began last year, when Research In Motion announced BlackBerry Messenger, an exclusive service that allowed BlackBerry users to communicate through texts and pictures with other BlackBerry users. On Monday June 6, Apple announced iMessage, a similar service that will be a part of More >

Microsoft is rumored to be building better multi-monitor support for Windows 8, according to reports. Group policy objects discovered in the latest leak of Windows 8 are hinting at the ability for Windows 8 users to display their taskbar across more than one display. ITWorld recently discovered the feature alongside what appears to be a 3G / 4G cost limiter feature and improved crash detection. The setting refers to a new “Multiple Display” section in the taskbar properties dialog. The feature is currently missing in leaked builds but the references in the group More >

iOS 5 Hints At New Models Of iPhone, iPad

Folks over at TUAW say that they may have found possible hints of two iPad 3 and iPhone 5 models within the iOS 5 framework. The information found in the USB device files in an unreleased iOS 5 gives credible evidence to the above statement. However, no hints on a possible iPod Touch 5 have been found.

There are declarations in the system files found that reference an “iPad 3,1″ and an “iPad 3,2.” The same for the iPhone 5 – “4,1″ and “4,2″. As mentioned above, there are no hints of the iPod Touch 5 found in the system files. Based upon this speculation, it may be true that Apple is More >

Leaked Photo of iOS 5 Spotted In The Wild

0

TechCrunch has posted a photo that shows Twitter notifications integrated into the iOS status bar. The site is unsure if it’s an authentic image; however, their sources say it’s the “right idea”.

Again, no clue if it’s actually real or not, but the idea might be right. Notifications that come down from the top bar could be how Apple ends up doing things in iOS 5. After all, this would mimic already existing functionality — when tethering, a blue strip appears along the top; when on the phone, it’s a green strip. Might notifications (or at least Twitter notifications) produce a gray More >
