Apple Releases iOS 5 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

Apple kept to their word and on Wednesday released iOS 5 for users around the world. iTunes 10.5 (which was released on Tuesday) is required before you can download the update. Not all Apple users are eligible for this update- only owners of the iPhone 4, iPhone 3Gs, iPad/iPad 2, and iPod Touch 3rd and 4th generations have access to the build. iOS 5 has more than 200 new features including (but not limited to):

The long awaited and much anticipated Facebook app for the iPad is finally here today. As of Monday evening, Facebook’s iOS app is now a universal binary that supports not only the iPhone and iPod Touch but also the iPad. Facebook And Spotify Team Up – Free Spotify Accounts For All

When Spotify was recently launched in the US, an invitation was needed in order to get a free account. Previously anyone willing to pay for a subscription could join right away, without needing an invitation. Microsoft’s WP General Manager Quits To Launch Startup

Charlie Kindel, Microsoft’s General Manager of the Windows Phone Developer Experience announced earlier today that he is leaving Microsoft to launch a start up. Kindel didn’t share any of the details regarding his new endeavor. His public profile on LinkedIn lists him as the Founder and CTO of <redacted> at A super secret stealth startup.
