Stefan Esser Confirms – iOS 4.3.2 Untethered Jailbreak Is Still Possible

iPhone security expert and hacker Stefan Esser (aka @i0n1c) has just confirmed that his untethered exploit for iOS 4.3.1 still exists in iOS 4.3.2, which means that we will soon have full untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.2 for all devices.

At Microsoft’s MIX11conference in Las Vegas, Joe Belfiore, the Windows Phone director took the stage to demonstrate how well Microsoft’s new Internet Explorer 9 mobile browser can render HTML5 websites. iPhone hacker Comex, who was behind popular jailbreak tools such as Spirit and JailbreakMe believes that untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.2 might still be possible using Stefan Esser’s (aka i0n1c’s) existing jailbreak exploit for iOS 4.3.1.

By the way, iOS 4.3.2 is (as far as I can see) still vulnerable to @i0n1c’s untether vulnerability.

Though this is yet to be confirmed by Stefan Esser himself, who is currently out of his hometown in Germany.

Well updating to iOS 4.3.2 over a hotel network takes years. Before I have done that can neither ack nor deny that the untether still works.

Apple released iOS 4.3.2 firmware for iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch 3G/4G and it has been successfully jailbroken for iPhone 4 using the PwnageTool 4.3 bundle for Mac users. Support for iPhone 3GS and iPod touches is on the way! But just like the Redsn0w 0.9.6rc12 jailbreak, PwnageTool 4.3 too is limited to tethered boot only, which means that you will have to boot your iOS device in tethered state on every reboot.

Apple released iOS 4.3.2 today, and as per the iPhone Dev-Team’s member Musclenerd, RedSn0w 0.9.6rc12 is capable of performing a tethered jailbreak of iOS 4.3.2 for both Mac & Windows users if pointed to the iOS 4.3.1

last week’s redsn0w can JB 4.3.2 (if you point it at 4.3.1 IPSW) but that’s a tethered JB (doesn’t imply anything about @i0n1c’s untether)

Microsoft has announced a new Software Development Kit for its Kinect hardware allowing developers, enthusiasts, and researchers to make use of Microsoft Kinect motion-sensing controllers on computers running Microsoft Windows 7.
