America’s largest cellular carrier, Verizon Wireless, seems to be following the move of the nation’s third largest provider, Sprint. Multiple tips are indicating that customers in select markets are receiving emails informing them an offer from the Big Red, a $69.99 monthly plan that closely resembles Sprint’s $69.99 Everything Data plan. The plan will allot users 450 minutes, unlimited messaging, unlimited data, and unlimited Verizon mobile-to-mobile minutes on a monthly basis. A family share plan (for 2 lines) will go for $139.99 and provide 1400 anytime minutes, unlimited messaging, unlimited data, and unlimited Verizon mobile-mobile minutes monthly with the ability to add additional lines for $19.99. Both plans require a 1-year contract renewal. The only [...]

The iPod Touch is always seen as an iPhone but without the phone. With the lack of in-built cellular data access, it may not really be as mobile a device as can be. With an increasing number of cloud-based apps on the App Store, this lack of cellular data access could turn out to be a significant problem. It comes as no surprise that the mobile hotspot devices like Verizon’s MiFi are pretty popular among users who are looking to use an iPod Touch while they are on the move.
Sprint is planning to offer an alternate solution to this issue with the launch of the ZTE Peel iPod Touch case. ZTE Peel [...]

As promised, Samsung held their event in New York City and they announced that their new popular Galaxy Tab will be hitting all four major carriers (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon) sometime during October or November. Unfortunately, the company has decided to let the exact release dates be determined by the carriers. Something to keep in mind though is that the tablet won’t have 4G capability on Sprint’s network and will be limited to 3G and Wi-Fi.
Pricing is a similar story as well, carriers get to decide. However, Samsung did announce that the keyboard dock for the Tab (the one that looks like a carbon copy of another popular tablet made by Apple) will [...]

The recently announced and unreleased Samsung Galaxy Tab has already been official given the root treatment. Blog sera-apps.de is reporting that they have seen, used, and possess a rooted Galaxy Tab. The site does caution, “I don’t know if the final Galaxy Tab can be rooted the same way like the one I have here. This is a work in progress prototype – thinks [sic] can differ a lot.” Either way, it is a pretty encouraging sign for Android enthusiasts who are excited about getting, tinkering, and hacking their Galaxy Tab.

It seems like Sprint is really turning itself around recently as they have managed to stop bleeding customers in the past few months and are continuing to expand lineup to continue the trend too. BoyGeniusReport heard word that the Galaxy Tab will be headed to Sprint sometime in November.
They didn’t provide any other details so hopefully this ends up reliable. It does seem like a feasible move from Samsung’s end. Word on the street is that Verizon is set to get a few tablets from Motorola, while we haven’t heard about Sprint getting any tablets until now.

Recent SEC filings all seem to indicate that the WiMAX provider Clearwire is planning a new pay-as-you-go cellular data service. The filings read that Clearwire “plans to serve a new pay-as-you-go customer segment.” Although it is not exactly clear as to what Clearwire has planned if anything, analysts speculate that the move was prompted by MetroPCS’ impending entry into the pre-paid 4G market place. Dan Hesse, Sprint’s CEO has said that this company has considered offering pre-paid 4G data services but hasn’t made a move yet. Sprint is currently the majority owner of Clearwire. Clearwire’s network is currently sold by Best Buy, Comcast, Sprint, and Time Warner. It is currently unclear how this move will [...]

Recently FCC documents revealed that Sprint is set to launch what appears to be a new case for the iPod Touch that would enable 3G networking on the Wi-Fi only device. Manufactured by ZTE and called the “Peel”, the case is essentially a MiFi like mobile hotspot that snaps on to an iPod Touch, giving it a network connection wherever you can get a Sprint 3G signal. The Peel has its own 3.4Whr lithium ion battery, which is good for about 40 hours of standby time – although there is no mention of how long it would last in active use, but our guess is just a few hours. In addition to giving 3G [...]
