In a recent interview with Reuters, Verizon Communications’ chief financial officer, Fran Shammo, reaffirmed several details about his company’s next iPhone offering. He mentioned that “Verizon’s [next iPhone] version will also work in as many countries as AT&T’s iPhone, which has global coverage.”
The executive also noted that the inclusion of LTE in the next CMDA iDevice is not something that the company will have control over. “I think it’s a bigger issue for Apple than it is for us,” said Shammo speaking about the need for an LTE iPhone. “Depending on where Apple plays, that’s where we’ll sell.”
The latest rumors have Apple releasing a refreshed version of its smartphone product later this fall. Most [...]

Apple has been pushing iOS firmware updates to the iDevices via their popular iTunes application for the longest. When a new software update is available, users need to plug their device in via USB, click update, and the new software version is downloaded and installed.
Apple’s competitors have already been offering a different, more direct method for software updates that happens over-the-air. Specifically, when an update to Google’s Android operating system or HP/Palm’s webOS is released, users are provided an update notification and can update the software right on their phone. No computer required.
Folks over at 9to5mac are reporting that Apple & Verizon are planning to introduce over the air updates [...]

It isn’t exactly a secret that U.S wireless provider Sprint isn’t exactly a fan of the proposed AT&T and T-Mobile merger. Dan Hesse, the company’s CEO has been very straight forward with his concerns, the main concern being that the merge will end up creating a duopoly between AT&T and Verizon Wireless. The carrier is therefore looking for even more anti-merger ammunition. The folks over at Bloomberg are reporting that Sprint representatives have “signed confidentiality agreements in advance of possibly gaining access to filings that won’t be available to the public.”
The merger, if it were to go through, would relegate Sprint to a distant third-place amongst U.S wireless carriers, having just over [...]

Apple iPhone will be made available on T-Mobile network soon. Folks over at BGR have managed to procure some spy shots confirming iPhone running on T-Mobile US 3G network.
The actual internal model is N94, whereas the CDMA model is N92 and GSM is N90. The iPhone is said to be running a test version of Apple’s iOS, like the one spotted on 64GB White iPhone model video leaked from Vietnamese site. The purported device is running internal Apple test apps like Radar and Apple’s employee directory app.
The proximity sensor has dotted cuts instead of just a black cut in the white front panel of the retailing model of White iPhone 4. For us it [...]

Verizon CFO Fran Shammo revealed that the next generation iPhone will be a ‘global’ device, during a conference call with analysts this morning. According to Shammo, the new iPhone 5 will be a global handset in that Apple will produce only one universally-compatible model for distribution around the globe.
The fluctuation, I believe, will come when a new device from Apple is launched, whenever that may be, and that we will be, on the first time, on equal footing with our competitors on a new phone hitting the market, which will also be a global device.
If Shammo’s statement proves correct, the fifth generation iPhone will be capable of roaming on [...]

The iPhone 5, due out sometime this summer, will not be an LTE 4G phone.
Not only will the lack of a 4G Verizon iPhone likely disappoint everyone who passed on the iPhone 4 in hopes of buying one that would run on Verizon’s fastest network, it also keeps Apple in the middle of the pack behind more muscular Google Android phones. Motorola, HTC and LG are all prepping 4G LTE Android phones, which are among the 10 LTE devices coming to Verizon as early as this spring.
According to Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook, Apple re-confirmed it is not adopting the current generation of LTE chipsets in its iPhone handsets during its earnings conference [...]

The white iPhone 4 was unveiled in June of last year, but consistent problems have led to a delay of nearly 10 months due to multiple production issues relating to the white paint. It’s believed that Apple has resolved the dilemma with a new paint mix that gives it the consistency and reliability they needs for large scale production.
9to5Mac has received few shots of Verizon inventory listing that show the White iPhone 4 32GB (MC679LL/A) and iPhone 4 16GB (MC677LL/A). It is now only a matter of time before it hits retail stores.
The screenshot however do not specify the new models are white but [...]

A new study from Mobclix indicates that AT&T iPhone owners use Wi-Fi more than individuals with a Verizon iPhone. Despite the Verizon iPhone being available for only one month, Mobclix’s data revealed that larger metropolitan cities already boast a higher Verizon iPhone usage – a reality which is a greater insult to AT&T than a compliment to Verizon. The top cities with the most documented Verizon iPhone usage (across the Mobclix exchange) included: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, New York City, and Boston. It is certainly not a small list of prominent big cities where Verizon has gained a leg up on rival AT&T, a carrier that we know has endured its fair share of [...]
